SIUE Athletics Presents Special Screening of The Loyola Project
SIUE Athletics will close out Black History Month with a special screening of The Loyola Project. The Loyola Project is an independently produced documentary film by O'Malley Creadon Productions.
The film celebrates the 1963 NCAA basketball champion Loyola Chicago. The Ramblers won the NCAA title while featuring four Black players in the starting lineup.
SIUE is one of a limited number of schools across the country chosen to screen the film as part of the 63 for 63 Screening Series presented by Northwestern Mutual.
“SIUE Athletics is pleased to be chosen as one of the 63 universities to screen the film,” SIUE Associate Athletic Director for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion & Athletics Chief Diversity Officer Venessa Brown, PhD, said. “To be a part of the project honors our respect for the past and our commitment as a department to an inclusive future.”
The screening will take place at 5 p.m. Monday Feb. 28 in the Cougar Pavilion inside the Lukas Annex.
Admission is free but space is limited. Those interested in attending the screening should RSVP to Brown at vbrown@siue.edu.
