SIUE Police Release Holiday Enforcement Numbers

The SIUE Police Department made one impaired driving arrest and issued six citations during its holiday enforcement effort. Enforcement actions including one DUI arrest, three speeding citations, one expired registration citation and one stop sign citation.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in the effort to save lives by getting impaired drivers off the roads. The enforcement campaign ran from Dec. 17, 2021 through Jan. 3, 2022.
During the mobilization, extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show most impaired driving fatalities occur.
The holiday enforcement effort was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
