SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School Co-Sponsors COVID Vaccine Booster Clinic, Nov. 11
In hopes of strengthening the immune system of special workers in the Metro East against COVID-19, the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville East St. Louis Charter High School (CHS) is offering a COVID Vaccine Booster Clinic.
The clinic is from 9:30 a.m.-3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11 at the East St. Louis Higher Education Campus, 601 James R. Thompson Blvd., Building D, in East St. Louis, It is also sponsored by SIHF (Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation) and Touchette Regional Hospital in Centreville. No appointment is required.
“The SIUE East St. Louis Charter High School remains a vital partner in this community, and we are delighted to offer COVID vaccine booster shots to eligible people in our area,” said CHS Director Gina Jeffries, EdD.
Booster shots are available for adults, age 65 and older, and certain at-risk individuals, age 18 and older, who previously completed their primary series with Pfizer or Moderna at least six months ago, according to CHS Interim Assistant Principal Pamela Saffore.
All Johnson & Johnson recipients, age 18 and older, are also eligible for a booster shot if it has been at least two months since their initial dose. Those eligible can receive the same vaccine or choose a different one for their booster, noted Saffore.
Those who may receive a COVID-19 booster shot include:
- First responders, such as healthcare workers, firefighters, police and congregate care staff
- Education staff, such as teachers, support staff and daycare workers
- Food and agriculture workers
- Manufacturing workers
- Correction workers
- S. postal service workers
- Public transit workers
- Grocery store workers
