SIU and SIUE Faculty Association Reach Agreement
Southern Illinois University (SIU) President Randy Dunn, on behalf of the SIU Board of Trustees, approved an initial Collective Bargaining Agreement between SIU and the SIUE Faculty Association (FA), an affiliate of the IEA/NEA (Illinois Education Association/National Education Association). The agreement applies to tenure-line faculty in the bargaining unit and covers the fiscal year 2017-18.
The agreement provides salary increases to the faculty for each of the 2016-17 and 2017-18 fiscal years. It also addresses grievance procedures, counter offers, and both administrative and association rights.
“I want to thank members of the negotiating teams for both the administration and the faculty, because this is an important step in the collective bargaining process,” said SIUE Chancellor Randy Pembrook, PhD. “We look forward to the faculty continuing their high quality instruction that has lifted SIUE’s national academic reputation and prepared students for career success in a global economy.”
“The Faculty Association is glad that we all found our way to an agreement,” said FA President Kim Archer, PhD. “After the winter holidays, we look forward to resuming bargaining toward a comprehensive agreement.”
