SIUE Students are among “Get to know m.e.” Campaign Scholarship Winners
Many people love living in the Metro East. Now, three Southern Illinois University Edwardsville students have received scholarships for their enthusiasm and appreciation of the area. The 2017 “Get to know m.e.” campaign has awarded Morrisan Connolly, Amber Hansch and Kelsey Walsh each with a $2,000 scholarship for their winning essays.
The SIUE winners were three of five college students selected for the scholarships. Hansch, of Granite City, is a senior in the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS). Both Alton natives, Connolly is a junior studying chemistry in the CAS, and Walsh is a junior in the School of Nursing.
All contestants wrote essays highlighting why they love living in the Metro East. Applicants were required to be a resident of the Metro East at the time of application and enrolled as a full-time student in good academic standing at a Metro East college or university.
“The purpose of this campaign is to positively impact our community,” said Carol Bartle, campaign project manager. “These scholarships are a great opportunity for us to help continue to improve the educational experience for students throughout the Metro East.”
“Get to know m.e.” was created to bring the Metro East communities together, embracing the people who live and work here and the many attractions that residents all share and enjoy. It also displays the many attractions and lifestyles the Metro East has to offer.
