SIUE’s Department of Theater and Dance Presents The End: an Apocalypse Anthology
How will the world end? Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s Department of Theater and Dance offers several causes – including fire, ice and a zombie attack in its presentation of The End: An Apocalypse Anthology, which opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1 in the Metcalf Theater on the Edwardsville campus.
The production of eight one-act plays will continue at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 2 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3 and at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday, Dec. 6-9 and at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10.
“The play is a collaboration between five different playwrights with dissimilar views and does a wonderful job of making light of the end of days, while still giving it its due,” said director Wendy Renée Greenwood. “When life closes a door, it opens a window … and then zombies come in and eat you. Lock the windows folks, and lock them up good.”
The productions will showcase “This is How It Ends” by A. Rey Pamatmat, “La Reina de Los Angeles” by Jennifer Haley, “Apocalypse Apartments” by Allison Moore and “Promageddon” by Dan Dietz. The remaining four pieces, “The One About the Asteroid,” “The One That Ends Itself,” “La Muerte” and “The One They Call The Bloop” are written by Marco Ramirez.
Tickets are general admission of $12 for those 18 and older and $10 for seniors and non-SIUE students with a valid school I.D. SIUE students with valid identification are admitted free. Due to the theater’s design, there will be no late seating for performances.
