Scott Air Force Base to be Honored at SIUE Commencement
Col. Marc Packler, commander, 375th Communications Group, Scott Air Force Base (SAFB), will address the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville fall 2017 commencement exercise at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16 in the Vadalabene Center. Packler will be speaking to the graduating class in honor of SAFB’s 100th anniversary.
“We are extremely pleased to celebrate the base’s 100th anniversary,” SIUE Chancellor Randy Pembrook said. “Scott Air Force Base and SIUE have worked successfully together in many ways in the past, and we anticipate many more partnerships in the base’s next century of service to our community.”
Packler leads 938 personnel in two squadrons: the 375th Communications Support Squadron and the 375th Communications Squadron. He is responsible for providing U.S. Transportation Command, Air Mobility Command, the Army’s Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command, 18th Air Force, the 618th Air Operations Center, three total force flying wings and 28 mission partners with innovative, cyberspace capabilities for their global reach missions.
Packler earned a bachelor’s in computer science and was commissioned through ROTC in May 1996 from the University of Alabama, and he entered active duty in June of ’96. He also earned a master’s in information systems from Webster University in St. Louis.
