The Wee Trio Brings Unique Jazz Sound to Arts & Issues
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Arts & Issues will present The Wee Trio, an internationally known jazz band that includes SIUE alumnus Dan Loomis, at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 in the Dunham Hall Theater.
The trio, which calls both Nashville and New York City home, tours around the world. Members include James Westfall on vibraphone, Jared Schonig on drums and Loomis, BA ‘02, on bass. As an added bonus, SIUE jazz faculty will open the show.
The Wee Trio, which surpasses the expectations of a conventional jazz group, has produced five albums, with The San Francisco Chronicle, Boston’s Patriot Ledger and All About Jazz hailing the group’s first album as being one of the top 10 of the year.
“Not only are we excited to present a band of this caliber,” said Grant Andree, director of Arts & Issues, “but also have one of our alumni in the group, and the jazz faculty be a part of the show, truly makes this concert special.”
General admission is $20 for adults, $18 for SIUE staff, faculty, retirees, alumni and seniors 65 and older, and $15 for students of any school or college. SIUE students are admitted free, courtesy of the Office of Student Affairs.
Tickets can be purchased at artsandissues.com, by phone at 866-698-4253 or at the Morris University Center (MUC) Welcome Desk.
Scott Credit Union is sponsoring the concert.
