SIUE Student-Athletes Continue to Excel Academically
For 11 straight years, spanning 22 consecutive semesters, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville student-athletes have finished with a departmental grade point average of better than 3.0. They completed the 2017 spring semester with a 3.281 GPA, marking the second-highest semester GPA in school history.
“As always I am proud of our student-athletes, staff, academic support and coaches for continuing this tradition of excellence,” said SIUE Director of Athletics Dr. Brad Hewitt.
Hewitt said team and individual discipline explains the department’s continued strong showing in the classroom.
“It is with great appreciation that I thank the SIUE faculty and all other support service areas for the quality instruction and care given to all students and student-athletes. This academic accomplishment is a reflection of the entire university’s efforts,” he added.
