SIUE’s Dr. Shelley Price-Williams Elected as Officer for National Academic Advising Organization, NACADA
Shelley Price-Williams, PhD, coordinator of Student Services and Transitions in Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s School of Business, was elected as the Advising Graduate and Professional Students Chair for NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising.
Price-Williams will assume her leadership role at the end of the 2017 NACADA Annual Conference being held in October in St. Louis. She will serve in this position until October 2019.
NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising was chartered as a non-profit organization in 1979 to promote quality academic advising and professional development of its membership to ensure the educational development of students. Since that beginning, NACADA has grown to 14,000 members consisting of faculty members, professional advisors, administrators, counselors, and others in academic and student affairs concerned with the intellectual, personal, and vocational needs of students.
In addition, NACADA is the representative and advocate of academic advising and those providing that service to higher education.
NACADA hosts an annual conference each fall that has attracted more than 4,000 attendees, as well as 10 regional conferences, and intensive study of advising through Administrators' and Assessment Institutes, special topic seminars, and two Academic Advising Summer Institutes held annually.
NACADA provides a network and professional identity for the thousands of faculty, full-time advisors, and administrators whose responsibilities include academic advising.
