SIUE Dance Marathon Exceeds its Goal to Help Sick Children
To date, hundreds of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville students have raised $46,022 during the University’s fifth annual Dance Marathon to help children at Greater St. Louis Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
More than 370 people participated in the marathon on Feb. 18 in the Morris University Center Meridian Ballroom that started at noon and ended at midnight, Feb. 19. Students enjoyed a lip sync competition, dance battles, an inflatable obstacle course, live performances, a cupcake walk and more.
“It was our fifth year, and to celebrate that milestone we set out to raise $40,000,” said Carmen Huddleston, faculty and alumni outreach chair. “We were ecstatic to learn we had raised the highest total in SIUE Dance Marathon history.”
The fundraiser will continue through March 18 and by doing so will continue to live up to the Dance Marathon’s motto: “For The Kids” (FTK), according to Huddleston. Money can be donated online at events.dancemarathon.com.
After March 18, monies donated will be credited to the University’s sixth annual Dance Marathon, being held Feb. 17, 2018.
