Sanders Visits SIUE
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will travel to Illinois Friday, March 4. The Democratic Party presidential candidate will host a rally in SIUE’s Vadalabene Center.
Sanders is expected to speak at 10:30 a.m. and will discuss a wide range of issues.
Doors open at 8 a.m.
- Access will be from the east entrance only.
- West VC entrance will be locked down Friday until noon
This event is free and open to the public, but RSVPs are strongly encouraged. Admission is first come, first served.
Employees wishing to attend this event must use vacation time and obtain approval by their supervisor, which may or may not be approved based on the operational needs of their department.
For security reasons, please do not bring bags and limit what you bring to small, personal items like keys and cell phones. Weapons, sharp objects, chairs, and signs or banners on sticks will not be allowed through security. All items will be searched by security.
Everyone on campus should be aware of emergency vehicles and motorcade. These vehicles will NOT stop at crosswalks.
Parking
- All general attendees are to park in Lots 4 – 8 east of University Drive.
- Lot 12 (just North of the VC) will be closed and reserved for persons with disabilities, media, and expedited service.
- The Northern section of Lot F (the VIP areas during basketball games) will be closed and reserved for event staff.
- The Southwestern section of Lot F will be open with accessibility through the Metcalf Road Entrance.
- All other lots on campus will be open as usual.
