Philanthropic SIUE Alumni Honored at Legacy Awards Ceremony

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville alumni who have made an extraordinary impact on the Edwardsville and Glen Carbon communities were honored at the First Annual Legacy Awards by the Edwardsville Community Foundation.
Charles Al Wentz received the Philanthropist of the Year Legacy Award. Wentz earned his MBA from SIUE in 1984.
Edwardsville Neighbors in Need, founded by SIUE alums Chad and Kathie Opel, was also recognized for its generous contributions to the community. Chad earned his bachelor’s in education – kinesiology in 2003, while Kathie achieved a bachelor’s in mass communications in 2006.
