SIUE STEM Resource Center Open House Inspires Area Educators
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Center for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Research, Education and Outreach is energizing STEM educators across the region by sharing resources that stimulate the creativity and discovery inherent to science topics.
At the SIUE STEM Resource Center Open House held Thursday, Oct. 22, visitors enjoyed hands-on demonstrations, participated in energetic discussions and perused innovative resource options like the eye-catching Magic Planet projector.
“Our Magic Planet system is incredibly versatile, and a great resource for educators to capture their students’ attention,” said STEM Resource Center Manager Colin Wilson. “It’s exactly the sort of thing we want to help educators bring to their classrooms. The Open House offered an opportunity for visitors to gain inspiration through our collection of resources.
“Tools and demonstrations are often prohibitively expensive or technical for everyone to access,” he added. “The STEM Resource Center is able to make an exemplary education available to everyone thanks to grants, donations and outreach programming.”
The Resource Center is open to the public from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with extended hours until 6 p.m. on Wednesdays, or by appointment. For more information, call 618-650-3065.
