SIUE Foundation Hosts Producers of “The Heroin Project”
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Alumni Association will present Ashley Seering ’14 and Cory Byers, instructor in the Mass Communications Department of the SIUE College of Arts and Sciences, at its Third Thursday Networking Hour at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, at Birger Hall.
Seering and Byers will share their experiences in producing “The Heroin Project,” a documentary that depicts the heroin issue in and around Madison County. It focuses on the affects on not only families, but also entire communities. View the trailer here.
“The Heroin Project is an attempt to raise awareness in and around Madison County,” Seering says. “Heroin isn't just alive and well in the city of St. Louis, it has leaked out to the suburbs in a substantial way. Our goal is to spread the word and, hopefully, take some steps in the right direction for finding a solution to the heroin problem.
