SIUE Continues its Progress in Innovative Studies by Promoting Dr. Erin Behnen
Dr. Erin Behnen is looking forward to expanding and enhancing experiential learning at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, in addition to helping programs use data for improvement.
Behnen was promoted last month to the position of assistant provost for academic innovation and effectiveness in the Office of the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. She previously served as the SIUE School of Pharmacy Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs and Assessment Coordinator.
“I expect to contribute significantly to in this position,” Behnen said. “I intend to help programs identify, collect and use data in a meaningful and efficient way to allow for continuous improvement.”
Specifically, Behnen said she will be responsible for expanding experiential programs nationally and globally. “I will be working closely with Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Parviz Ansari, the Office of Corporate Partnerships, International Programs and the University’s deans to identify and engage corporate, community and international partners.”
Behnen has been at SIUE since 2005 when she was hired to create and direct the SIUE Drug Information and Wellness Center and later served as assessment coordinator for the School. She was a faculty member at the University of Tennessee (UT) College of Pharmacy before her appointment at SIUE.
Behnen earned a bachelor’s and PharmD from St. Louis College of Pharmacy. She is a board certified pharmacotherapy specialist and a fellow of the Academic Leadership Fellows Program through the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy.
