$25,000 in Scholarships Awarded to SIUE School of Nursing Students
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Nursing awarded $25,000 in scholarships to students on Thursday, April 30, at its 8th Annual Scholarship Luncheon in the Morris University Center.
Nearly 60 scholarship donors, recipients and faculty members were in attendance as 32 students were recognized for their achievements.
“The SIUE School of Nursing is extremely fortunate to have alumni, family of alumni, faculty and staff, emeriti faculty, and community residents and agencies who are such strong supporters and champions for the School,” said Laura Bernaix, interim dean of the SIUE School of Nursing. “Donations from these constituents make it possible to offer scholarships to many of our students and increase their opportunities for success. We are grateful to our donors and thrilled for our students.”
Among the scholarships awarded was the Scholarship for Excellence. SIUE emeriti faculty Dr. Mary Mulcahy established the scholarship in 2012. Seniors Jennifer Mellenthin of Streamwood, and Katelyn Kruger, of Springfield, each received the $500 award.
