SIUE Named Kaskaskia College Partner of the Year
Kaskaskia College (KC) has selected Southern Illinois University Edwardsville as its Education Partner of the Year for SIUE’s longtime and enriching collaboration with the Centralia school.
“We are proud of our association with SIUE and the ease our graduates have in transferring to your institution,” wrote Kaskaskia College President Jim Underwood in a congratulatory note to SIUE Chancellor Julie Furst-Bowe. “SIUE receives the preponderance of our graduates who transfer to a university.”
Annually, the community college honors an educational institution that is a strong partner with Kaskaskia, according to Underwood. SIUE was recognized in an awards banquet Thursday night at Kaskaskia.
“Kaskaskia College has been a fantastic academic partner over the years,” said Scott Belobrajdic, associate vice chancellor for Enrollment Management at SIUE. “We are truly appreciative of this special honor, which recognizes the work of so many in the SIUE Transfer Center, and the Offices of Admission, Academic Advising and Financial Aid.
“They, along with many of our faculty and academic department chairs, have established strong working relationships with KC’s student advisors, student advocates and faculty. The relationship has been strengthened in recent years with new collaborations including a very successful 2+2 program through SIUE’s School of Engineering, which has resulted in 40 students successfully transitioning to SIUE engineering programs.”
SIUE and Kaskaskia have worked together to facilitate the transfer of more than 100 students annually.
