SIUE School of Nursing Partners with HSHS Medical Group
The Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Nursing has recently partnered with Hospital Sisters Health Systems (HSHS) to implement a fully online educational offering. HSHS nurses will be able to advance their education and obtain a baccalaureate degree in nursing in as little as one year.
This online, accelerated RN to BS nursing program will be offered to all HSHS employees through a corporate partnership agreement with SIUE, allowing HSHS students to maximize their tuition reimbursement benefits.
“We are excited to work with Hospital Sisters Health System to offer our online, accelerated RN to BS in nursing degree,” said Dr. Roberta Harrison, assistant dean for undergraduate programs at SIUE School of Nursing. “This is a great opportunity to reach more working nurses throughout Illinois and Wisconsin to offer our affordable, progressive and innovative online program.”
Based out of Springfield, Ill., Hospital Sisters Health Systems is a multi-institutional health care system comprised of 14 hospitals and an integrated physician network across Illinois and Wisconsin. Consisting of more than 14,300 colleagues, HSHS has provided continued support to the Metro East health care system, sponsoring institutions in Belleville, Highland, Breese and more.
“One of our core values at HSHS is competence, and for us, it’s not just a word, but an action and an expectation,” said Shelley Harris, DNP, chief nurse executive of HSHS Southern Illinois Division and St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville. “Partnering with SIUE helps us to live that core value by encouraging our teams to engage in lifelong learning. This collaboration will enhance the care our ministries provide by building a strong diverse workforce prepared to care for the communities we serve.”
