SIUE Digital Exhibit Honors Photography of Charlie Cox
Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Library and Information Services (LIS) has published a new digital tribute to long-time SIUE campus photographer Charles Howard “Charlie” Cox, who passed away during December 2014.
Cox served as campus photographer from 1961-86, a period of time that encompassed the construction and opening of the Edwardsville campus, included the era of the Mississippi River Festival (1969-80), and spanned the University presidencies of John Rendleman, Kenneth “Buzz” Shaw and Earl Lazerson.

Stephen Kerber, University archivist and special collections librarian, conceived the idea behind the exhibit, selected the images, and wrote the introduction and identifications.
University Archives student worker Jennifer Roberts, a senior majoring in English, digitized the original photographic negatives.
Steven Pryor, LIS director of digital initiatives and technologies, created the format for the exhibit within SPARK, the new LIS digital repository.
