SIU Board of Trustees Approves SIUE 2015-16 Tuition Increase
The Southern Illinois University Board of Trustees today approved a five percent tuition increase for the 2015-16 Academic Year that will result in a $366 increase over last year for newly entering, in-state undergraduates on the Edwardsville campus. The board met on the Edwardsville campus.
With the increase, the annual tuition rate will be $7,662 for new, in-state full-time undergraduate students (15 hours per semester) entering fall 2015. Undergraduate students currently in a guaranteed tuition plan will see no increase in their annual tuition rate.
A $336 annual increase (5 percent) was also approved for SIUE in-state graduate students for the coming fall. In-state, full-time students (12 hours per semester) in the SIUE Graduate School will pay $7,038 in tuition.
In addition, the Board also approved other tuition changes that would result in an annual two percent increase for students enrolled in the School of Dental Medicine (SDM) and an annual three percent increase for students enrolled in the School of Pharmacy (SOP). In-state SDM students will pay an annual tuition of $29,124, while in-state SOP students will pay an annual tuition of $23,448.
With policy instituted during 2014, in-state tuition is also available to entering freshman and transfer students, and master’s level graduate students from the regional states of Missouri, Arkansas, Iowa, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee and Wisconsin.
Finally, the Board approved a decrease in the non-resident tuition rate for SDM students from 3.0 times the in-state rate to 2.3 times the in-state rate beginning with the 2016 academic year. This revision will allow the SDM to remain competitive with similar programs and enhance the diversity of the SDM student population.
