Musicians from the Grammy-Award Winning St. Louis Symphony in Concert at SIUE
Three musicians from the Grammy-Award winning St. Louis Symphony will be performing a free concert on Monday, March 16, at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Performing at 7 p. m. in Dunham Hall Theater will be Ann Choomack on flute, Allegra Lilly on harp and Chris Tantillo on viola.
The musicians will perform the following pieces:
- Jeff Beal’s Fear of Falling in Love
- Persichetti’s Serenade No. 10
- Debussy’s Sonate
The Friends of Music will host a reception immediately following the concert in Dunham Hall, room 1109.
“This is the second year we are involved with the St. Louis Symphony Community Partnership program where members perform a concert and conduct masterclasses” said Audrey Tallant, event coordinator and former SIUE Music Department Chair. “This year in addition to the concert, the members of the Symphony will conduct two masterclasses: flute and strings. Last year, the members conducted a masterclass for our brass students and performed a concert featuring a brass quintet.”
The partnership with the St. Louis Symphony has been enriching for the students, the campus community and the general community. In addition to this Community Partnership event, Adam Crane, vice president for External Affairs, and Maggie Bailey, director of Operations, have visited Audrey Tallant’s Music Business class for the past four years. They presented information about the symphony and explained their positions and unique responsibilities.
“This greatly helped our students,” Tallant said. “In fact, one of our former students, Tracy Jackson, was able to secure an internship with the symphony because of this partnership.”
“This year’s concert promises to be especially entertaining, and one that audiences will long remember,” she added. “We are pleased to collaborate with the St. Louis Symphony and expect our partnership to flourish.”
