Africa Week at SIUE Seeks to Bring Blacks Together
Many black students, faculty and staff at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville gathered Wednesday to discuss ways to strengthen relationships between Africans and African Americans.
Prince Wells, associate professor in the Department of Music and director of the SIUE Black Studies Program, moderated a panel discussion on “Bridging the Gap Between Africans and African Americans.”
The discussion, which was held in the Lovejoy Library Friends Corner, was part of SIUE’s Africa Week.
Africa Week concludes Saturday with African Night 2015. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and dinner begins at 6 p.m., followed by an evening of entertainment and culture. Tickets are on sale at the Morris University Center Information Center. The cost is $10 for students and $15 for SIUE faculty, staff and the general public.
