The National Corn-to-Ethanol Research Center (NCERC), located in University Park at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE), celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2023 after two decades of leadership in the bioindustrial manufacturing sector. Throughout 2023, NCERC and SIUE will showcase this milestone while leading up to its celebration event on October 12, 2023. As a nationally recognized research center dedicated to the development and commercialization of biotechnologies, NCERC’s unique research laboratories house bench- to demonstration-scale bioreactors and pretreatment and downstream processing equipment. Through their contractual research services, NCERC has played an instrumental role in commercializing more than eighty products that are now used in the commercial marketplace. In addition to its research and development services, NCERC leverages its experienced staff and unique facility to lead a variety of workforce training and education initiatives to train the next generation of bioeconomy professionals.
