Several software capture tools are available on campus for faculty, staff, and students to record lectures, audio/video announcements, projects, etc. But which one is the best to use? Well, it depends…

YuJa Software Capture Tool

The YuJa Software Capture Tool is an app installed directly on your work or home computer. The recording is automatically uploaded to your YuJa account. This may not be the best option if you are using a computer where the setting prohibit you from downloading or installing files.

YuJa Browser Capture Tool

The YuJa Browser Capture Tool can be used with any internet connection. No downloading software is needed. This is a good option if you are not on your work or home computer. This will not be the best option if you do not have strong, reliable internet connection.

YuJa Mobile App

YuJa Mobile app is best to use when you have a quick, informal recording. This recording is through your phone or tablet’s camera and can directly upload to your YuJa account. This may not be the best option if you wish to display PowerPoint or other visuals on your video.

Zoom

Zoom is a common form of recording. If saving the recording to the Zoom Cloud, the video will automatically upload to YuJa. This may not be the best option if you need the video quickly. Uploading from the Zoom Cloud will take some time, depending on the length of the video.

Record on PowerPoint

Recording directly on PowerPoint is easy and the audio can be recorded slide-by-slide. This is not the quickest method. Once the audio recording in complete, PowerPoint must be exported as a video and then uploaded to YuJa manually.
