Student Video Assignment Submission: Link it!

In the second half of the semester, students are often preparing presentations as final projects but collecting large video files of those submissions is a hassle. Adding specific expectations for your students to share a link of their video recordings rather than accepting attached files will streamline your workflow. It’s also beneficial if you ask students to share their work in a discussion forum and interact with their peers’ presentations. YuJa ensures that you won’t end up with a discussion board forum or an assignment inbox full of video files that are attached and must be downloaded to view.
YuJa is SIUE’s video storage and management solution. ITS strongly recommends that all video content in all Blackboard Courses are linked from a streaming service rather than attached as a downloadable file. Using YuJa also increases the accessibility of the content students are sharing with their peers; it includes automatic captioning, and students can quickly review their recordings for accuracy.
This article, Record a Video and Submit for an Assignment , provides instructions for the entire process. Include the link in your assignment instructions and students will not only have the step-by-step help they need, but it will also put them in the ITS Knowledgebase where they can search for additional YuJa support as they record the presentation, edit out the mistakes, and review the captions before submission.
