Bringing everyone together with Zoom’s new Immersive View

Zoom has a new view feature called Immersive View. This new feature brings all participants together into one single virtual background scene. Delivering a more in-person meeting-like experience, Immersive View displays all participants side by side in the “same room” for a more cohesive virtual meeting space.
If you want to use the Immersive View feature, you will need to be using the latest version of the Zoom desktop client for your meetings.
The Zoom desktop client can be downloaded through our website in the Getting Started with Zoom section.

Instructions for signing into the Zoom desktop client with your SIUE Zoom account can be found here.

After you’ve started your meeting as host using the Zoom desktop client, click View in the top right corner. There will be 3 view options - Speaker, Gallery, Immersive. Choose the Immersive view option. Participants can be placed and arranged automatically or manually. Select one of the scenes to use as the background, and click Start. Participants can be individually moved and resized as necessary.
Immersive View can only be enabled by the host of the meeting. When screen sharing, Immersive View will end and then will resume again once screen sharing stops. Recording of Immersive View is not supported yet.
Prerequisites for using Immersive view:
- Zoom desktop client
- Windows version 5.6.3 or higher
- macOS version 5.6.3 or higher
- For macOS: OS version 13.3 (High Sierra) and above
