The newest macOS, Catalina, was released on Monday, October 7th. Catalina brings several new and exciting features to the Mac world. Here are some of the highlights.
Sidecar
This is definitely one of the coolest new features. With the Sidecar app, your iPad can be used as a second display. The ability to expand your Mac's workspace can be especially useful when using creative apps for drawing and writing with the Apple Pencil.
iTunes eliminated
iTunes is no more. Apple has gotten rid of the 18 year old music app and replaced it with three separate apps - Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple Podcasts. The individual apps will make it easier to organize and manage your content.
Don't fret about losing your current music library and playlists...they will automatically be transferred to the new Apple Music app.
Screen Time
Previously only available on the iPhone or iPad, the Screen Time app will now be available on Mac as well. Screen Time will show how much time you waste spend on your computer and mobile devices. Whether this feature is a good or bad thing remains to be determined...
Voice control
Voice control will allow complete control of your Mac entirely with your voice. Input devices and touch gestures can be controlled with Siri's speech recognition. This new accessibility feature is also available on iOS and iPadOS devices.
