If you're new to online learning platforms, the Quizlet app is an interesting option. With an easy-to-use and simple user interface, Quizlet is a mobile app for creating your own study content or searching existing user-generated content. Already used by one third of college students, and half of high school students in the US, the app aims to reach 1.5 billion worldwide.
The Quizlet app lets you create your own study content by using flashcards, diagrams, etc. It will sync your content to the cloud so that you can access it on your other mobile devices or by logging into the website via a web browser. It also allows you to share your flashcards with your friends and classmates.
After creating your content, you have the ability to learn and study the content by using several different modes:
Flashcards mode
Similar to real flashcards, the Flashcards mode lets you study by showing the definition on one side and tapping to see the answer on the other side.
Learn mode
Using the Learn mode, you will be quizzed with different types of questions using flashcards, multiple choice, and written responses. As you answer correctly, the questions will become more difficult and advance from multiple-choice to written answers.
Test mode
Using Test mode will create a 20-question test, a mixture of written, matching, multiple choice, and true/false.
Write mode
Prompted with a term or definition, the Write mode requires you to type your answer. If you get stumped, there is a Don't know option which will show you the answer.
If you don't want to create your own content, Quizlet lets you search existing content known as study sets. Quizlet makes it simple and easy to search for a specific topic. With the ability to search millions of study sets, there is user-generated content out there for almost any subject you can think of.
Quizlet is also a great tool for teachers. Teachers are able to create their own study set for their students.
