Spring cleaning with CCleaner

Computer getting bogged down? Just as we accumulate junk in our everyday lives, our computers also accumulate junk. Over time, Windows can get slowed down by these junk files and performance can be negatively impacted. When this happens, your computer is in need of a good spring cleaning.
CCleaner is a great (and free!) app for getting rid of all that junk slowing down your computer. It will allow for system optimization by analyzing and scanning your Windows (or Mac) operating system for all unnecessary system files such as temporary files, recycle bin files, log files, broken shortcuts, etc. Once the scanning is completed, you can choose which categories to remove.
It will also remove all of your unnecessary browser files such as the browser cache, history, cookies, etc. If you don't want to delete cookies, site preferences, or saved passwords, make sure those options are un-selected before running CCleaner. If you are using multiple browsers (Chrome, Firefox, etc), CCleaner is very convenient as it will remove all of your browser files at once instead of having to go into each browser and clear its cache/history one at a time.
In addition to cleaning your system and browser files, CCleaner can be used as a registry cleaner to correct errors, and remove unused registry entries, file extensions, etc. A registry cleaner can also be useful if you're having issues installing a newer version of a previously installed program.
After running CCleaner, you should notice a boost in performance and speed. It will also free up disk space, sometimes as much as several gigabytes.
Although all of these tasks can be performed using Windows own optimization tools, CCleaner makes it easy and quick to perform all of your housekeeping needs in one place.
