Here are some reminders and updates from the ITS Instructional Design & Learning Technologies (IDLT) group. For questions on these, or other learning technologies, please contact 618-650-5500 or help@siue.edu.
Turnitin Issue
Recent calls have revealed that students are experiencing issues uploading their paper to Turnitin using the Safari browser. This is a temporary issue, but in the meantime, please try another browser such as Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome.
Respondus Test Authoring Tool
As a reminder, if you have a test in a text format such as Word and want to bring it into Blackboard, Respondus test authoring tool is what you need. When the text is formatted correctly, Respondus will bring the questions directly into Blackboard. Download and import instructions are available on the ITS Knowledge Base.
New Blackboard Ally Preview Feature
Blackboard Ally has released a new feature that will be useful for faculty making their courses more accessible. After clicking the Ally indicator next to the uploaded file, you will now notice a preview for Word, PowerPoint, or PDF files. When Ally recommends something is missing such as headings or alternative text, the preview will show you where this occurs within the file. Very helpful!
Zoom’s New Look
Zoom’s interface is getting an upgrade. When starting the Zoom desktop client, it may prompt you to download the latest update. If not, you can click the drop-down next to your status icon and choose Check for Updates. Meeting settings and controls have remained the same. There is a new calendar feature that we’ll update on soon. We are currently in the process of updating the ITS Knowledge Base articles for all of Zoom.
