Google Assistant to add real-time interpreter mode

At the CES tradeshow, Google has announced plans to expand their Google Assistant platform by adding a new real-time interpreter mode. Supporting 27 different languages, the new interpreter mode will provide a more smooth translation between languages. The new translation feature will be an advanced version of the current Google Translate app. While the Translate app translates words and phrases, the interpreter mode will provide a much more fluid way to have a natural real-time back and forth conversation with people who speak a different language.
After just travelling to Cuba and Mexico, and with my lack of Spanish skills, a translator like this would have been invaluable during my time there. The real-time interpretor mode has the potential to break communication barriers across the world and revolutionize our ability to communicate with others.
Google has already added the interpreter mode to Google Assistant and eventually plans to add it to smartphones as well.
