Welcome to GREEN!
In 2004 a team of SIUE faculty established the Green Roof Environmental Evaluation Network (GREEN) to conduct research on the benefits of green roof implementation and the performance of green roof materials and techniques. Our research has expanded to include green walls as well as other green infrastructure. In addition to lab testing, we use a ground-level field site and two roof sites located at SIUE.
In 2018 Green Roofs for Healthy Cities and the Green Infrastructure Foundation named SIUE a Living Architecture Regional Center of Excellence (LARCE). We are one of four sites in the nation chosen to work collaboratively to develop the living architecture industry on a regional basis. LARCE provides professional development, research and policy advocacy through partnerships with other higher educational institutions and organizations interested in advancing green infrastructure.
