Position Description

 Position Title: Student Care Support Assistant

Project: MHEAC Grant

Assistantship Information:

The Student Care Support Assistant is a 50% Graduate Assistant appointment equaling 20 hours per week. Compensation is $750/pay period (semi-monthly – 12 pay periods in total). Mostly on-site work is required. Hours are mostly weekday hours, occasional night, or weekend. The position is only available Spring 2025. Start date would ASAP, but by February 1st 2025 and run through June 30th 2025.

Responsibilities:

The Graduate Assistant for Student Care Support will play a critical role in assisting the Student Care, Advocacy, and Accountability office with managing and maintaining key processes related to student support and conduct. This position focuses on providing expedited responses to Care and Concern Referrals, offering non-clinical support, and promoting mental health awareness and resources on campus. It will play a pivotal role in supporting the well-being and success of SIUE students. As a member of the Dean of Students team, the GA is expected to uphold the division's commitment to inclusion and foster a sense of belonging for all students. Additionally, the GA will contribute to departmental goal setting, strategic planning, and assessment efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Respond promptly to Care and Concern Referrals, meeting with referred students to connect them with appropriate mental health resources and support services.

• Provide non-clinical case management to help students navigate challenges and access university and community resources.

• Collaborate with graduate assistants in SIUE Athletics and Counseling and Health Services to develop and deliver training sessions and workshops focused on self-care strategies and mental health awareness.

• Lead marketing and outreach efforts to increase awareness of Dean of Students Office resources among students, faculty, and staff.

• Maintain accurate and confidential records of student interactions and case management activities.

• Participate in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.

• Draft and send student communications, such as meeting requests, notification letters, and hearing panel notices.

• Support the coordination of emergency funding to address students’ basic needs.

• Collaborate with university departments and external partners to support students effectively.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
