Teaching Assistantship (2281-2024)

Qualifications

Hold a BS degree in a STEM related field, nursing included. Have significant coursework in one or more of the following disciplines (chemistry, biology, physics, math). Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours of graduate coursework and in good academic standing. Comfort/confidence in teaching STEM concepts (instruction on specific topics needed is provided.) Comfort with working in a team environment. Flexible schedule- The 10 hours will typically be divided between two-four days per week based on the tutoring needs of the students enrolled in nurse anesthesia Chemistry and Physics coursework, usually scheduled between the hours of 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm. Willingness to be creative and adapt to different students' needs for graduate student support.  

Position Description

The Nurse Anesthesia Program within the School of Nursing is currently accepting applications for graduate Teaching Assistant positions for Summer and Fall of 2025. This position is 10 hours per week in a hybrid of in-person and online tutoring as the student and TA needs allow. You will receive a monthly salary and tuition coverage. This experience also provides excellent evidence of teaching and mentoring. Teaching Assistants will support graduate students learning of mathematical sciences as it is related to Anesthesia. The TA will help the students understand mathematical functions of Force, Pressure, Work, Energy and Power related to gas laws, scientific theories, and biochemistry. The application of equations in science and technology is a cornerstone for comprehension of anesthetic principles to navigate complex clinical situations.
