Is there a step by step tutorial on how to access and complete the CCCDI Recertification Program?
Yes, we have produced a short video on YouTube with a detailed explanation of all aspects of the program, from sign-up through completion. Visit www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3r_XFjN0xs
How do I know when my recertification is due?
You will be notified via mail when your recertification window opens. Once notified you will have 3 years to complete the 8-hour training. We have broken the license holders up into 3 groups or PODS. POD #1 includes the testers with the oldest licenses, with POD #3 consisting of those that have been certified most recently.
How do I know which POD I am assigned to and when my recertification is due?
POD designations are indicated at the bottom of your most recent CCCDI Card.
- POD #1 – Registration Opens July 1st 2023 – Recertification Due June 30th 2026
- POD #2 – Registration Opens July 1st 2024 – Recertification Due June 30th 2027
- POD #3 – Registration Opens July 1st 2025 – Recertification Due June 30th 2028
Why am I required to complete the recertification program?
Cross Connection Control Programs are part of a “multiple barrier” approach to protecting the potable water system. Just as Plumbers and Water Operators are required to engage in continuing education, it has long been recognized that Cross Connection Device Inspectors would benefit from a similar continuing education requirement. In 2019, IEPA revised 35 Illinois Administrative Code to require that all licensed CCCDIs be recertified every 3 years. (35 Illinois Admin Code 604.1510 (b)(2))
Is there an in-person option for recertification?
Due to the large numbers of license holders needing to be recertified and high cost of in-person training, this program was designed to only be administered virtually.
