IE graduate student, Elif Daysal had a successful defense for her MS thesis research on April 16, 2020. It was the first time IE program had a student’s defense meeting on a remote platform using Zoom application. Elif’s research, titled 3D modeling and analysis of cardia adipose tissue (CAT) using echocardiographic images: a feasibility study, has been advised by Dr. Lee. One of main contributions Elif has made out of the thesis research is: Experimental results show a promising evidence that accurate 3DCAT models can be created from echocardiography images as a viable alternative to MRI, typically detecting at least 70% of true CAT distribution and at least 87% of the overall CAT volume.
