Position Title
Associate Dean for Research, Scheduling, and Administration

The Associate Dean for Research, Scheduling, and Administration is responsible for overseeing all student, staff, and faculty research activities in the College of Arts and Sciences. In this capacity, the Associate Dean reviews, approves, and oversees requests for internal and external funding, working collaboratively with the Graduate School and the office of the Associate Provost for Research; serves as the CAS liaison with the Graduate School/ Office of Research and Projects; and reviews and approves student travel. The Associate Dean is also responsible for overseeing course scheduling in the College. In this capacity, the Associate Dean serves as the liaison between Academic Affairs, schools, Online Services and Educational Outreach, and CAS units; attends and participates in all budget planning meetings with department representatives; reviews and approves schedule change requests (Form A/B); attends and participates In all meetings of the Course Scheduling Committee; ensures that an adequate number of seats in courses are offered each term; manages course enrollment issues; reviews and manages all requests for course specific fees; and reviews and signs all grade change forms. The Associate Dean also works with departments to procure, provide support for, and repair equipment used in both teaching and research; works with departments to provide maintenance and support for all facilities and equipment in CAS teaching and research spaces; represents CAS on construction/renovation projects; coordinates with Facilities Management on all service requisitions and General Improvement Requests (GIR); serves as the liaison between CAS and Environmental Health and Safety; reviews offices and other space assigned to units and approves changes to space assignments; and serves as hiring dean for faculty searches, as assigned by the Dean.
Minimum Qualifications
- An earned Doctorate or other terminal degree
- Candidates must be a tenured faculty member in a department in the college
- Experience with policies and processes of the College of Arts and Sciences
