Job Description/Responsibilities
The Department of Educational Leadership at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is accepting applications for an Assistant Professor in educational administration. The responsibilities include teaching graduate courses in principal preparation and teacher leader, research, and service to the program (including serving as program director at some point), the department, the school and the university. Teaching assignments include evening, weekend and satellite courses. Summer assignments are available, subject to enrollment and funding.
Minimum Qualifications
- Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Educational Administration, Educational Leadership, Educational Policy, Curriculum and Instruction/Teaching and Teacher Education/Special Education or an equivalent field by appointment date. ABD candidates will be considered, but the doctoral degree is required by the start of the contract.
- Clearly demonstrated potential for scholarship, excellence in teaching, and engaged service to the program.
- Ability to effectively teach graduate courses leading to principal and teacher leader endorsements.
- Knowledge, skill, and demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Clearly demonstrated potential to serve as program director.
Preferred Qualifications
- Pre-K -12 administrative experience.
- Current administrative licenses (principal).
- Skill in mentoring and advising graduate students.
- Skill in supervising student research.
- Skill in supervising field-based internships.

Terms of Appointment
Continuing tenure-track position for nine months. Summer appointment is contingent upon availability of funds and enrollment. Beginning date of appointment is in August 2023.
