About Dr. Bushrow
Kathy M. Bushrow, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Department of Teaching & Learning in the School of Education, Health and Human Behavior at Southern Illinois University. She obtained her doctorate in Special Education at the University of Texas at Austin in 1996 and joined the SIUE faculty in fall 1999. Dr. Bushrow currently is teaching in the Elementary Education Program and Graduate Program in the Department of Teaching and Learning. In the Elementary Education Program, she teaches Introduction to Education, Differentiated Instruction and Primary Literacy Assessment and Instruction. In the Graduate program, she teaches Differentiated Instruction and 3 sequential courses in Research for graduate students who are beginning their Graduate Research Project. Previously, Dr. Bushrow taught courses such as the middle level courses: Adolescent Development and Middle Level Philosophy, Curriculum, and Organization.

Dr. Bushrow has written and presented in the areas of Teacher Preparation, Middle Level Education, Literacy, Educational Technology and Differentiated Instruction. Additionally, over her career in Teacher Education, Dr. Bushrow and written and received several million in educational grants.
