About Dr. Jones
Dr. Matthew Jones is a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Department of Applied Health. He obtained is PhD in Kinesiology with a specialization in Sport Psychology and Motor Behavior from the University of Tennessee. His doctoral dissertation focused on the intersection of context and sport psychology service delivery specifically within the MLB. Dr. Jones currently teaches courses in sport psychology, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and special populations in sport psychology.
Research Profile
Dr. Jones’ research is focused on advancing the field of sport psychology and sport psychology service delivery. His current research aims to identify the presence of sport psychology within NCAA athletic departments, the characteristics of the professionals providing such services, and the student-athletes’ perceptions of those professionals. Dr. Jones has currently begun to explore sport psychology service delivery and the organizational factors that influence service delivery. Dr. Jones is a member of the Association for Applied Sport Psychology and is a Certified Mental Performance Consultant®.
