Kim has over 40 years of experience in the performing arts field as a public relations and marketing manager, publications writer, theater producer, marketing and sales manager, artistic supervisor, business manager, arts educator, and university level instructor, as well as experience as the program specialist for theater, literature and multi-discipline grants, awards and special events at the Missouri Arts Council. He has worked for professional theater companies in the area such as The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, The St. Louis Black Repertory Theatre Company of St. Louis, Metro Theater Company, and the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival. As a past member of the Society of American Fight Directors, he has created stage combat choreography for professional companies, universities and high schools including The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis, Opera Theatre of St. Louis, The St. Louis Black Repertory Theatre Company, and the St. Louis Shakespeare Festival, to name a few. He served on the Board of Directors for the St. Louis Volunteer Lawyers and Accountants for the Arts from 1988-1991 and president in 1990. Kim has written over twenty plays, primarily for children, that have been produced by professional theater companies. Invested in classic Chinese culture and martial arts, Kim was the 2002 Co-Producer of World Tai Chi Day at the Missouri Botanical Gardens and is a past member of the St. Louis T’ai Chi Chuan Association (1979-2004) where he served on the Board of Directors. While there he was Lead Instructor (1988-1998) and Board president (1988-1993). He has served on various judging panels for independent film-makers, playwriting, amateur acting performers competitions and t’ai chi tournaments. Currently, he is the Marketing Coordinator and an Established Instructor in the Department of Theater and Dance at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He has an MA in Media Communications with an emphasis in public relations and marketing.
