Peace & International Studies

Welcome to the Peace and International Studies Minor at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville!

The Peace & International Studies Minor is interdisciplinary and allows students to receive recognition for pursuing a particular concentration of courses related to the international community.

While Peace Studies, as a discipline, is relatively young, it is pursued at a growing number of universities across the United States and the world. The Minor is strategically situated at the intersection of peace and conflict and encompasses a broad range of issues including, but not limited to:

• Problems of War and Peace         
• Arms Control and Disarmament                                     
• Instances of Collective Violence                       
• Terrorism
• Human Rights
• Conflict Resolution
• Inequalities & Conflict
• Informed Citizenship in Democracy
