SIUE Anthropology is growing, and so, we are hiring. Below is a short job description. For the complete announcement, go to SAA or AAA websites.
The Department of Anthropology at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) invites applications for a continuing tenure-track (9 month) position at the level of Assistant Professor, specializing in archaeology, beginning August 2019. We seek a colleague with an active research focus in North American archaeology. There are potential funding opportunities for collaborative interdisciplinary grants. We are particularly interested in candidates with a specialization in public archaeology, ceramic, and/or lithic analysis, while welcoming other areas of expertise. Additional skills in remote sensing, museology, heritage studies, community archaeology, environmental archaeology and/or digital archaeology are also highly desirable. SIUE has a strong commitment to teaching and research, and the ideal candidate will demonstrate their potential to integrate the two, while also engaging in service to the department, the university and its surrounding communities. Teaching responsibilities include an introductory anthropology course, advanced undergraduate courses in archaeology, and graduate courses related to the candidate’s expertise, as well as undergraduate and graduate supervision. The ability to teach a local archaeology field school is also required.
PhD in anthropology or related field required; however, ABD candidates may be considered for a one-year appointment at the rank of instructor.
