    Welcome to Black Studies

Black Studies is a holistic interdisciplinary and universal discipline focused on the dissemination of real-world knowledge on the history, culture, politics, institutions, economics, religion and identities of African Americans, Africans and the African diaspora.

The Black Studies program at SIUE encompasses subjects that concentrate on African Americans, Africans and the African diaspora's progress and well-being, depicting the nuances of everyday life in the communities of African American, African and African diaspora groups. The program seeks to produce useful, culturally distinct and forward-thinking students. It also offers participants opportunities to develop or enhance their intellectual capabilities and problem-solving skills by collaborating on the implementation of research and interactive projects designed to benefit citizens in the region.
