NAEA Student Chapter
The student chapter of the National Art Education Association is intended to be an organization ran by and for future art educators. SIUE is recognized as an active student chapter by the National Art Education Association and is also an active student organization on the campus of SIUE. It is governed by a leadership team that is elected by its members each Spring. We have adopted an open membership policy and welcome any students that are interested in the visual arts. One does not have to be declared as an art education member to join! Members attend monthly meetings that consist of planning, networking, and preparing for upcoming events. We also have numerous social events and fundraisers throughout the academic school year.
The objectives of the organization are:
- to provide undergraduate Art Education students with networking opportunities
- to provide leadership opportunities for prospective contributors to the field of Art Education
- to provide service opportunities where our members can disseminate that which they are learning in their coursework
- to make SIUE's Art Education program more visible and viable on campus
- to represent SIUE's Art Education program in local, state and national platforms such as the Illinois Art Education Association Conference in Chicago each November, the Southern Illinois Art Education Conference each Spring, and the National Art Education Association Conference every March.
