About Sorin
Sorin Nastasia is originally from Romania in Eastern Europe. His professional experiences include working as a strategic communication counselor in Romanian government agencies handling intergovernmental relationships with different nations, in a publishing house, as well as in university settings. His strategic communication activities typically include production of brochures and booklets, awareness campaigns and event organizing, as well as social media engagement. Dr. Nastasia has taken student groups in study abroad trips to Romania, Hungary, France, and Germany. He has recently co-edited two special issues on crisis communication aspects during the war in Ukraine for ESSACHESS: Journal of Communication Studies. At SIUE, he served as the President of the Faculty Senate and is currently the President of the College of Arts and Sciences Faculty Congress at SIUE. Dr. Nastasia is also the newsletter editor of the Media Ethics Division of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication. Together with his wife Diana and their daughters Daria and Alexia who are college students, Sorin enjoys traveling around the world, watching historical movies, listening to traditional music from various countries, and swimming.
