Completed Construction
SIUE is nearing the completion of an extensive construction and infrastructure improvement plan that already has resulted in thousands of students, faculty, staff and campus visitors enjoying numerous finished additions to campus life.
Evergreen Hall — The $39.3 million, 190,000-square-foot residence hall opened in fall 2007 and is home to 500 students each semester. The building offers residents a variety of green features to support sustainable living.
Student Success Center — One central location to meet students’ needs — that’s what students get when they visit the modern $16.1 million Student Success Center. The facility houses academic and personal support services, optimizing the academic, service and social components of the student experience.
Student Fitness Center — The completion of a $9.1 million renovation/expansion project includes the addition of two multi-purpose rooms for exercise and student activities, a 30,500-square-foot gymnasium for courts, a food and juice bar, and an office addition.
Vadalabene Center — A $5.8 million renovation allows the University to offer its students, faculty, staff and guests a new basketball court and bleachers in the main gymnasium.
Roof Replacements — Roughly $4.5 million has been spent on the replacement of roofs to protect campus buildings. These replacements are a necessary part of maintaining campus structures to ensure safety and security for years to come.
Early Childhood Center — A $2.3 million renovation and expansion has allowed the Center to increase its capacity, providing children of University families and the community with greater access to high-quality care and education.
Dental Medicine Sterilization/Oral Surgery Renovations — The $1.9 million, two-part renovations project created high-tech dental facilities on the Alton campus. These renovations will benefit faculty members who teach and the students who learn, as well as the community members who receive services.
Bio Labs — The $1.4 million Biotechnology Incubator Labs project created additional biology labs in University Park, meeting a need for additional space for biology, chemistry and pharmacy research labs.
University Bookstore — A $1.3 million University Bookstore modernization project allowed for the installation of custom-designed maple wood casework throughout the store; Cougar Tech, a complete technology department featuring Apple computers, iPods, software and electronics; and The Cougar Shop, and an expanded selection of SIUE clothing and gifts.
University signage and entrances — Money was allocated to make campus navigation easier for everyone, as well as for landscaping, sidewalks and roadway enhancements to improve traffic flow.
