Li Ping

Li Ping, Professor and former Vice-President at Sun Yat-sen University. A graduate of the Philosophy Department at Sun Yat-sen University, and visiting scholar at Peking University, Pacific Lutheran University and Harvard University, she studied Ethics with Professor Luo Guojie and received her Ph.D. in 1997 from Remin University. Professor Li is a member of the Ministry of Education’s Social Sciences Committee and National Social Sciences Foundation’s expert review group. She is Vice-Chairperson of China National Association for Ethical Studies and Chairperson of Guangdong Provincial Association for Ethical Studies. She is among the first group of intellectuals selected for the national talent reserve project: the New Century Top 100, 1000, and 10,000 recognized as one of the nation’s specialists/ experts with outstanding contributions.

Professor Li’s research is focused on issues in comparative ethics, political and ethical education, bioethics, and values education. She has led numerous research projects and is author/editor of over twenty books and forty articles. Some of her books are: Toward an Open Morality, On Education of Modern Morality, Changes in Ethics and Moral Education in the Process of Chinese Modernization, Comparative Studies on Moral Education, A Theory of Outlook on Life, and A Cultural Perspective on Youth Moral Socialization.
