Counterclockwise
from the upper left appear the classroom and faculty office building, Lovejoy
Library, and the science building, followed by the foundations of the communications
building, and the university center. This shot looks from west to east.
The board of trustees on May 28, 1964 named the unfinished classroom and
faculty office building in honor of pioneer clergyman and author John Mason
Peck, founder of Shurtleff College. On the same day, bids for construction
of the communications building received board approval. Also on May 28,
1964, the board agreed to the awarding of contracts for the university
center, contingent on the successful issuance of revenue bonds, which followed
on July 1, 1964.
